If You Were

The world has come up with many ways to Heaven, but there is only ONE way. That is through JESUS CHRIST!  Did you know that the Bible tells us we CAN know for sure that we are going to Heaven when we die? In 1John 5:13 the Bible says, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have etenal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”…..and here’s how you can know, for in Romans 3:10 the Bible says, “As it is written, There is none rightious, no, not one.” and in verse 23, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” First, you must accept that you are a sinner. No one is perfect, we are all sinners. If you were born on this earth, you were born a sinner.

Second, you must accept that as a sinner you owe a penalty.  In Romans 6:23 the Bible says, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” This “death” doesn’t mean just dying and going into a grave. It means eternal separation from God forever and ever in a lake of fire-HELL. This is our punishment for our sin and a debt you owe as of right now. Sin is anything we do or think that is against God. For example, a lie no matter how small or great is sin. Lusting in our minds after a woman or man is adultery in God’s eyes. These are just two examples, the Bible gives us many many more. Because of our sin nature we are LOST!

Third, you must accept that JESUS CHRIST  has already paid our sin debt. In Romans 5:6 the Bible says “For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.” and  in Hebrews 2:9b “….that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.”  Christ was not a sinner (because He is God, incapable of sin), and the Bible teaches that God took all our sin and placed it on Christ. While Christ was bearing all of our sins in His own body, God punished Him in our place to pay the debt that we rightfully owe. This is not something God promised to do. It is something God as already done. In John 3:16, the Bible says, ”For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” And, in II Corinthians 5:21, the Bible says, “He hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”

It is a fact, JESUS CHRIST has already paid your sin debt!!

Fourth, you must accept by faith what JESUS CHRIST did for you!!  Ninety times in the Gospel of John the Bible says “BELIEVE”

In John 3:36 the Bible says, “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.”  In this verse, Jesus divides the world into two groups: those who are believing and those who are not believing on the Son. Those who believe have everlasting life, and those who believe not shall not see life.

The word “believe” means to trust, to depend on, to rely on. To believe on the Lord Jesus Christ means that you accept the fact that you are a sinner, that as a sinner you owe a penalty, and that Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay the sin debt you owe. But, it means going one step further. It means that you will completely trust Christ to get you to Heaven- that you will put the matter of your salvation in His hands and depend on Him for everlasting life.

Now, the moment you do this, God promises you are not condemned but have everlasting life and that you shall never perish.  In John 5:24, the Bible says, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”

In Acts 17:30, the Bibe says, “God….now commandeth all men everywhere to repent.” This repentance is a change of mind that agrees with God that one is a sinner, and also agrees with what Jesus did for us on the Cross. Simply believe on Him as the one who bore your sin, died in your place was buried, and whom God resurrected. In Romans 10:13, the Bible says, “For whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”  “Whosoever” is YOU! Shall be saved means not maybe, nor can, but shall be saved!

So, surely you realize now you are a sinner. Right now, wherever you are, repenting, lift your heart to God in prayer.

Just pray:   “Oh, God, I know I am a sinner. I believe Jesus was my substitute when He died on the Cross. I believe His shed blood, death, burial, and resurrection were for me. I now receive Him as my Savior. I thank You for the forgiveness of my sins, the gift of salvation and everlasting life, because of your merciful grace. Amen”

Just take God at His word and claim His salvation by faith. Believe, and you will be saved. No church, no lodge, no good works can save you. Remember, God does the saving. All of it!!!
